The Whittlesey WW1 Twitter account was set up to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, in 2014.

The account was pre-loaded with the names and some brief details of First World War soldiers named on local war memorials. Much of the military information was taken from the research published at http://www.roll-of-honour.com/ .

A personalised memorial tweet is sent in honour of each local man on the 100th anniversary of the day of their death.
