Alongside our seasonal exhibitions, the museum opens specially for local events, with themed displays and activities created specifically for those occasions.
Straw Bear Weekend
Usual opening hours, 16th and 17th of January.
To accompany the annual traditional festival of the Straw Bear, the museum reopens from the winter break to allow visitors to learn about the history of the festival and its hometown. We feature a permanent display of memorabilia from previous festivals and examples of the costumes worn by the Molly dancers and the bear itself.
Children’s club
The museum also runs a monthly children’s club, offering hands-on activities that help children explore local and national history and support their learning.
