Category: Local History
Objects which are specifically and particularly relevant to the history of the area of Whittlesey, Coates, Eastrea, Pondersbridge or Turves . eg: a bill of sale for a field in a local parish would be included, but a hairbrush used by a local resident would not be (as the same style brush could be used anywhere in the country at that time, it is not particular to Whittlesey).
Plesiosaur Fossils
Various fossils from Pleisosaurs and Pliosaurs, found locally. Plesiosaurs and Pliosaurs were Jurassic marine reptiles which swam using four flipper-like limbs - plesiosaurs had a long neck whereas pliosaurs did not.
Ichthyosaur Fossils
Various fossils from ichthyosaurs, found locally. An ichthyosaur is a large streamlined Jurassic marine reptile, superficially similar to a dolphin.
